Through OED grantees and projects, Maui businesses are provided with
assistance in developing business plans, access to data and information
to assist in evaluating business strategies and finding financial
support, networking, and marketing assistance. In addition, OED
grantees and projects help promote Maui's cultural and leisure
activities to the visitor and Maui's natural and business assets to the
prospective entrepreneur.
The office promotes a desirable quality of life through projects that
enhance our environment and enrich the lives and skills of our
residents. Our long term goal is to assist in the diversification of
our economy by attracting new businesses, creating good paying jobs for
Maui residents and former residents, encouraging more Maui grown
entrepreneurs, and strengthening our niche markets.
A healthy Maui economy will provide a varied mix of business
opportunities for new entrepreneurs, and new markets and venues for
existing businesses. OED will focus resources to assist Maui businesses
stay abreast of new marketing strategies and technology such as
e-commerce and effective use of the Internet. OED will also focus
additional resources on business / investment attraction and marketing.
